Emma Shortis is a historian, writer and commentator focused on the history and politics of the United States. Her first book, Our Exceptional Friend, will be published by Hardie Grant in August 2021. She also co-hosts RMIT’s popular history and politics podcast Barely Gettin’ By with Dr Chloe Ward. Emma is a Research Fellow in the Social and Global Studies Centre at RMIT University. Before that, she was a Fox-Zucker International Fellow at Yale University.
