Michael Piggott is a Canberra-based archivist, retired after a thirty-seven-year career spanning the National Library of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, the National Archives of Australia and the University of Melbourne. He was an Australian Prime Ministers Centre Fellow in 2009, a National Library Fellow in 2016, a Senior Research Fellow with Deakin University during 2018–19, President of the Friends of the Noel Butlin Archives Centre ANU, 2012–17 and in 2020 completed a three-year term as Chair of the Territory Records Advisory Council.
