Chris Cunneen is an Honorary Research Fellow in Modern History at Macquarie University. Formerly Deputy General Editor of the Australian Dictionary of Biography, he is the author of Kings’ Men; Australia’s Governors-General from Hopetoun to Isaacs (George Allen and Unwin, 1983) and William John McKell: Boilermaker, Premier, Governor-General (UNSW Press, 2000).
